Backend Engineer

We are seeking a skilled and motivated technical mind who loves writing thoughtful software, isn't afraid of a challenge and is ready to expand his or her skill set. As part of the team, you will work directly with co-founders to architect, build, and deploy technology for our clients’ products in areas such as live video streaming, e-commerce, and social influencer marketing.
The ideal candidate is a polyglot; someone who may favor certain tool sets but is always evaluating new tools and carefully considering what is right for the job.
Responsibilities:
- Work directly with engineering leads on backend related sprint tasks.
- Lead development operations, production deployments, and maintenance tasks.
- Work with the team through product design, advising on technical considerations including level of effort and maintainability.
- Work with the team through project management, advising on backlog, delivery schedules, and sprint planning.
Example technologies we use:
- Ansible
- Ruby/Rails/Sinatra/Node.js
- Ember (ES6/ES7)
- Postgres/Redis/Elasticsearch
- Nginx
- Amazon Web Services
Background:
- Degree in CS or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience developing production software.
- An excellent communicator and team collaborator.
- Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, Git preferred.
- Experience with test-driven development and agile methodologies.
- Production experience with Ansible, Chef, Salt, or equivalent configuration management tool.
Bonus Points:
- Experience with machine learning techniques and tools.
- Experience with C/C++, Python, Java, Go, or Lua.
- Heroku experience.
- Experience with third party API integrations.
- Understanding patterns in big data workflows.
